A Natural and Organic Beauty Solution.

We all deal with different circumstances regarding our hair. One thing that remains the same, we were created with a body made with its own lubricating system. Our bodies produce Sebum.

What is sebum you ask?
Sebum is an oily substance produced by our skin and scalp. Sebum is in our follicles and travels to the surface of our skin and scalp by hitching a ride on our hair strands, Sebum is one of the only things we were created with to protect and help aide in moisturizing an overly dry scalp, hair, and skin.

Our hormones, medication, and our diet can change the quality, thickness, and production of sebum. Too much oil can lead to oily crusty scalp, oily hair, thick oily flakes, and clogged pores. Too little oil production can cause dry scalp and skin, flaking, and dry hair. (Ask a dermatologist what category you fit in and some treatment options)

This hot oil treatment has been formulated using oils that mimic simularities in sebum. Like your own natural sebum, our oils will help protect your hair against dryness, breakage and split ends.

Chemical treatments, over washing, straightening hair using heat, and styling products can lead to dry brittle hair For over 10 years we have formulated many oil treatments for the hair, scalp, and skin. Over those years we held back on production to perfect the oil. Through trial and error we tested these formulas on many clients, myself, as well my own family. I began seeing amazing results. Once we found the perfect formula we stuck with it. I am now proud to help you begin your personal hair care plan with our first product, our new and improved Hot Oil Treatment!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can anyone do a Hot Oil Treatment?

Hair oiling keeps our hair soft and aides in hydrating our hair by sealing the cuticle. Helps to promote healthy hair growth and strengthens our hair follicles. It is possible to have adverse reactions to oils especially if your have sensitive skin. If your hair is color treated, dry, brittle, frizzy, or breaking a hot oil treatmentcanbenefit you tremendously.Oils which penetrate into the Cuticlecanmake your hair more hydrophobic (water repelling). Strong healthy hair is naturally hydrophobic!Treating hair with natural oils and butters also makes hair more pliable (easy to bend) without breaking.

It is possible to have adverse reactions to oils especially if your have sensitive skin.If you have any skin conditions like psoriasis or eczema, be sure to ask your doctor or dermatologist if a hot oil treatment is safe for your scalp, in order to understand any possible issues.

Do the oils have to be hot?

Please don't burn scabs in your head people. Hot oil is dangerous!  However, it's easier for our hair to absorb nutrients from warm oil. Warming the oil allows for deeper penetration.

How Do I warm the oil?

  • I do not recommend putting oil in the microwave this can possibly kill nutrients and heat the oil to hot. You can warm the oil by doing a double boiling method (See top of page how to do a hot oil treatment)
  • You can warm the oil by putting a steam cap on your head and wrapping your hair with a towel. Your natural body heat can earn the oil.
  • If you have access to a hooded dryer, Put a plastic cap on your head and sit under the dryer for 15 minutes.

Should I wash the oil out our leave it in?

When using natural oils as a treatment you can leave it in anywhere between 15 minutes and up to overnight. Your hair will soak up all the oil it needs and the excess can be shampooed off.

You can also leave this oil on your hair before protective styles, when brushing hair, and as a daily protectant. Once again, if you have scalp conditions like psoriasis, seborrea dermatitis, eczema, or allergies, do a patch test on a small area of your scalp. Check for any redness and itching before use.

How often should I use this oil?

You can use this oil as needed daily depending on your personal needs or use it in hair routine before every shampoo and condition.

When you have scalp conditions, for example seborrhea dermatitis, oilcanagitate your scalp if left on. If you find that your scalp gets flaky, apply oil only to hair strands especially ends and avoid the scalp

Can I use this oil on dry and wet hair?

For dry hair natural raw oil helps to combat issues with frizziness, dry rough textures, dull hair, and split ends. Our oil helps with dry detangling, which is the best way to detangle hair with minimal damage. It keeps your hair coated as a protection from harsh weather conditions and it protects your hair from UV rays, and pollution.

Have you heard the saying wet hair is the weakest hair? Adding our oil directly to wet hair can protect and prepare your hair before shampooing. Sometimes our hair can suck up too much water, especially high porosity hair. It can swell up so much that it pushes the cuticle outward which in turn can damage the cuticle. Our oils help maintain hydration and strengthens your bonds (the structure of your hair). Research has shown some oils can penetrate our hair and can reduce the over absorption of water. You can apply this oil to wet or dry hair in order to experience stronger healthier hair.

Can I use this oil on a protective style?

This oil can be used on braids, sew in and crochet foundation braids, and other  weaves. If you have straightened hair styles be careful not to overuse oil as it will cause your extensions to be oily.

Can I use this oil on flat ironed hair?

Our oils are designed to lightly coat hair as a heat protectant. You can use this oil on flat iron hair. However, if you have very fine or thin hair it may weigh your hair down. Course or thicker hair may be ok when using this oil sparingly while flat ironing.

Will this oil make my hair grow?

Let's be real, our hair will technically grow if we do nothing. It's a natural function of our body. Our blend of oils are formulated to stimulate hair growth and strengthen blood supply to the hair follicles. Getting healthy hair growth requires much more than just adding growth oils.  Eating a healthy diet full of a variety of fruits and vegetables, taking good quality vitamins, and using quality natural oils with minimal chemicals can ultra boost your hair growth.

What is the difference between carrier oil and essential oil?

Carrier oils are vegetable based oils that are derived from  the nut, seeds, or kernels of a plant. Carrier oils are used to dilute essential oils.  Some of the carrier oils we use in our treatment are anti inflammatory, absorbs well, and leaves hair glossy.

Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts deep inside seeds, roots, flowers, and bark. Essential oils from a reputable company whose plants are pesticide free can be very beneficial. Many essential oils have antimicrobial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. They are very potent and when diluted properly can keep our hair and scalp healthy.

What is Sebum?

Sebum is A natural waxy Oil that is secreted by our own bodies. (refer to homepage to learn more about sebum and how it helps our skin and hair)

What is your hair cuticle?

It's the outer layer of our hair strand. Think of singles on a roof or layers on a pine cone that overlap each other. The cuticle can become weakened from chemicals, shampoos, heat, or brushing aggressively. This can happen in All hair types.

Rawtician Hot Oil Treatment may be the right fit for you. you will only find out once you give it a try! Start your healthy hair journey by incorporating a hot oil treatment before every shampoo and conditioner!

What is high porosity vs low porosity?

Low Porosity Hair

Does it seem like oils sit on the outside of your hair? Does it take forever for your hair to get wet? Products sit on top of this type of hair because the cuticle is tightly closed. Although this hair type is challenging to moisturize it retains moisture pretty well once or penetrates the cuticle. our hot oil treatment can penetrate this type of hair when used with a plastic cap and heat.

High Porosity Hair

Is your hair very dry, frizzy, and tangles easily? High porosity hair gets wet fast and usually dries very quick. Porous hair has large gaps that allow moisture to enter and exit too easily. It is damaged hair from chemical use, high heat damage, or brushing to hard. Believe It or not, even watercancause serious damage to our hair.Did you know haircanabsorb too much water?Massaging your hair with a pre-wash using plant-based oils is one of the best ways to protect your porous hair from damage caused by something as simple as water. Oils which penetrate into the Cuticlecanmake your hair more hydrophobic (water repelling).Strong healthy hair is naturally hydrophobic!Treating high porous hair with natural oils and butters makes hair more pliable (easy to bend) without breaking. *Whether you have high porosity hair or low porosity hair youcanbenefit from natural oils.
